Asiwome Dzakuma

Board President - Global

Instructor Pilot, General Aviation Advocate

Asiwome Dzakuma is a seasoned airline pilot with over two decades of commercial flying experience. He holds an FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) license and instructor ratings, including CFI, CFII, MEI, AGI, and IGI, with type ratings on the Boeing 787, 737, Embraer 170/190, ATR 42/72, DC9/MD80, and LET 410 aircrafts.

He earned a Master’s degree in Aerospace Science from Middle Tennessee State University, where he also completed his commercial flight training. He currently flies for United Airlines and has trained and mentored aspiring aviators throughout his career. Asiwome is an FAA-designated Aviation Safety Program Manager (ASPM), Risk Management Train the Trainer, and Aviation Safety Program Auditor.

Earlier, Asi earned a bachelor's degree in Political Science with a minor in Military Science from Eastern Illinois University and completed Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC), which he credits for instilling leadership discipline that continues to guide his path.

Asiwome is the Founder and Executive Director of Strategic Aviation Services (SAS). Also, he helped establish AOPA-West Africa to promote regional advocacy for pilots and aircraft owners. 

Anne-Marie Barry

Board Member - Global

Airline Pilot, Flight Instructor, Aviation Advocate

Anne-Marie Barry is an aviation professional, airline pilot, mentor, and advocate. Her career reflects the successful pursuit of a childhood dream and a commitment to leadership that creates opportunities for others in aviation. 

From the moment she first looked up at the sky as a child in her native Guinea, Anne-Marie felt an undeniable pull toward aviation. In 2018, she made the life-changing decision to pursue flight training full-time in the United States. Through dedication and perseverance, the future airline pilot earned her FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate along with Certified Flight Instructor (CFI), Certified Flight Instructor–Instrument (CFII), Advanced Ground Instructor (AGI), and Instrument Ground Instructor (IGI) certifications. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Aviation and a Bachelor of Business in Business Management.

Anne-Marie’s professional journey led her from flight instruction to the airlines. As an airline pilot, she advanced quickly through the ranks, becoming Captain at GoJet Airlines before joining Delta Air Lines, where she flies the Boeing 757 and 767. Throughout her career, she has demonstrated a strong commitment to safety, operational excellence, leadership, and professional development. 

Recognized as the first female commercial airline pilot from Guinea, Anne-Marie is passionate about helping more young Africans discover and pursue careers in aviation. A dedicated mentor and advocate, she works to expand opportunities for aspiring aviators and encourage greater participation of women in aviation.

In addition to her aviation career, the trailblazing pilot brings practical knowledge of nonprofit governance. Anne-Marie serves as a board member of Sisters of the Skies, an organization dedicated to increasing representation and opportunities for Black women in aviation. She has contributed to mentorship programs, aviation workforce development, and outreach initiatives aimed at expanding opportunities for women and other underrepresented communities in aviation.

The Guinean-born pilot’s career achievements, leadership experience, and distinction as Guinea's first female commercial airline pilot have positioned her as a respected voice in aviation development and a role model for aspiring aviation professionals, particularly across Africa.

Selasie Atuwo

Board Secretary - Global

Legal Practitioner, Policy Expert, Military Veteran

Selasie Atuwo (Rtd) is a military veteran, legal practitioner, and governance expert with over 26 years of experience spanning law, defense, and public policy. He serves as Secretary of SAS, where he helps guide internal governance, compliance, and regulatory coordination across borders.

Selasie is Managing Partner of a leading legal firm, with expertise in corporate and commercial law, data protection, cybersecurity, AI, fintech, and defense law. He has served clients such as Vodacom, ICT Legal, and the Tony Blair Institute. His legal consultancy also supported Ghana’s $3 billion sovereign bond issuances in 2020 and 2021.

A retired Ghana Army officer and UN mission veteran, he served as Jumpmaster, Airborne Instructor, and UNIFIL Technical Investigations Chief. He holds four LLM degrees from institutions in Ghana, the UK, and France, in addition to an LLB, bar certifications, and numerous postgraduate credentials in patents, licensing, and cyber law.

His cross-disciplinary background makes him a key operational and legal anchor within SAS’s strategic leadership team.

Dana Kwarteng

Educator, Instructional Leader

Dana Kwarteng, M.Ed., is an educator and instructional leader with more than a decade of experience in public education. She currently serves as a middle school mathematics teacher in Bay County, Florida, where she is dedicated to increasing student achievement through data-driven instruction, relationship-building, and engaging learning experiences.

Dana’s career began as a paraprofessional before becoming a classroom teacher, giving her a unique perspective on supporting students and collaborating with educators at every level. She holds a Master of Education in Educational Leadership and has earned multiple professional endorsements and certifications, reflecting her commitment to continuous growth and instructional excellence.

Beyond the classroom, Dana serves as President of the Association of Bay County Educators (ABCE), where she advocates for educators, supports professional development, and works collaboratively with district leaders to strengthen public education. Her leadership experience includes collective bargaining, mentoring educators, legislative advocacy, and building strong partnerships that benefit schools, educators, and students.

With a professional background spanning both education and information technology, Dana brings expertise in instructional leadership, educational advocacy, curriculum and assessment, data analysis, professional learning, and organizational leadership. She is passionate about empowering educators, fostering positive school cultures, and ensuring every student has the opportunity to succeed.

 

Dana Kwarteng

Dana Kwarteng, M.Ed., is an educator and instructional leader with more than a decade of experience in public education. Kwasi Adjekum

Dr. Kwasi Adjekum is a seasoned aviation professional with over 26 years of experience spanning military, commercial, academic, and regulatory sectors. In the U.S. Air National Guard, he commanded missions aboard the C-5A, C-130E, C-21A, and others, serving as Instructor Pilot, Chief of Safety, and Crisis Action Team Chief at the Pentagon’s National Military Command Center.

He is type-rated on the B-787, B-777, B-737, Learjet, and G-100/Astra SPX, and also qualified as a helicopter Medevac pilot. He holds a Bachelor of Health Science in Hospital Administration and an Associate in Respiratory Therapy.
