SAS Engages MP Emmanuel Bedzrah on General Aviation’s Role in Socio-Economic Development

ACCRA, GHANA – In a push to integrate general aviation into Ghana’s socio-economic development plan, Strategic Aviation Services (SAS) met with MP Emmanuel Bedzrah at its Accra office on April 20, 2026, aligning its organizational vision with national and regional priorities.

The meeting focused on leveraging general aviation across key sectors to bolster national development, while emphasizing structured flight training, aviation-focused technical education, and pathways for young Ghanaians to enter the sector.

Led by Executive Director Asiwome Dzakuma, and joined by Board Member Selasie Atuwo, SAS identified a critical need for dedicated general aviation infrastructure beyond major commercial airports, where cost and access constraints continue to limit smaller aircraft operations. Also highlighted were high-impact applications of aviation, particularly in emergency medical services (medevac) and agricultural aviation, where timely aerial support can significantly improve outcomes in underserved areas.

The exchange underscored the importance of building understanding of general aviation at the policymaking level.

Bedzrah, a sitting MP serving the Ho West constituency and Board Chairman of the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund), welcomed the initiative, noting its relevance to Ghana’s development needs.

“This is exactly what Ghana needs,” he said, adding, “I have seen the gap, and I am convinced that what SAS is building is the right response to it.”

For SAS, a key takeaway from the meeting was the Member of Parliament’s strong understanding of general aviation and its role in national development.

“That clarity is critical,” Dzakuma noted, “particularly among legislators who influence how development priorities are defined and supported.”

Dzakuma maintains that SAS is not waiting for the general aviation market to emerge. “We are building it deliberately,” he emphasized. This proactive approach, he explains, is driven by a long-term vision for Ghana and a commitment to fostering strategic partnerships.

The meeting marked the first between SAS and a lawmaker, forming part of the organization’s broader effort to engage with stakeholders across sectors. Discussions are expected to continue as partnership opportunities are further explored.
