Asiwome Dzakuma
Board President
Instructor Pilot, General Aviation Advocate
Asiwome Dzakuma is a seasoned airline pilot with over two decades of commercial flying experience. He holds an FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) license and instructor ratings, including CFI, CFII, MEI, AGI, and IGI, with type ratings on the Boeing 787, 737, Embraer 170/190, ATR 42/72, DC9/MD80, and LET 410 aircrafts.
He earned a Master’s degree in Aerospace Science from Middle Tennessee State University, where he also completed his commercial flight training. He currently flies for United Airlines and has trained and mentored aspiring aviators throughout his career. Asiwome is an FAA-designated Aviation Safety Program Manager (ASPM), Risk Management Train the Trainer, and Aviation Safety Program Auditor.
Earlier, Asi earned a bachelor's degree in Political Science with a minor in Military Science from Eastern Illinois University and completed Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC), which he credits for instilling leadership discipline that continues to guide his path.
Asiwome is the Founder and Executive Director of Strategic Aviation Services (SAS). Also, he helped establish AOPA-West Africa to promote regional advocacy for pilots and aircraft owners.
Selasie Atuwo
Board Secretary
Legal Practitioner, Policy Expert, Military Veteran
Selasie Atuwo (Rtd) is a military veteran, legal practitioner, and governance expert with over 26 years of experience spanning law, defense, and public policy. He serves as Secretary of SAS, where he helps guide internal governance, compliance, and regulatory coordination across borders.
Selasie is Managing Partner of a leading legal firm, with expertise in corporate and commercial law, data protection, cybersecurity, AI, fintech, and defense law. He has served clients such as Vodacom, ICT Legal, and the Tony Blair Institute. His legal consultancy also supported Ghana’s $3 billion sovereign bond issuances in 2020 and 2021.
A retired Ghana Army officer and UN mission veteran, he served as Jumpmaster, Airborne Instructor, and UNIFIL Technical Investigations Chief. He holds four LLM degrees from institutions in Ghana, the UK, and France, in addition to an LLB, bar certifications, and numerous postgraduate credentials in patents, licensing, and cyber law.
His cross-disciplinary background makes him a key operational and legal anchor within SAS’s strategic leadership team.
Selasie Atuwo

Kwasi Adjekum
Board Member
Airline Pilot, Aviation Expert / Professor
Dr. Kwasi Adjekum is a seasoned aviation professional with over 26 years of experience spanning military, commercial, academic, and regulatory sectors. A former Ghana Air Force acting squadron commander (VVIP Fleet) and airline captain, he holds an Airline Transport Pilot License (ATP) and is type-rated on the BN-2T Islander, Fokker F-27, and Boeing 737 series.
He is an ICAO and IATA-certified expert in Safety Management Systems (SMS), a U.S. Certified Safety Professional (CSP), and a graduate of the U.S. Air Force’s International Flight Safety Officers Course. Dr. Adjekum has led aviation safety consulting for the Ghana Air Force and several regional carriers.
He is a tenured associate professor at the University of North Dakota, where he teaches aviation safety, human factors, and quantitative methods, and leads funded research in aviation and energy safety culture. An accomplished author and subject-matter expert, Dr. Adjekum is frequently featured in global media for his insights on flight safety and risk management.
David Morales
Board Advisor
Airline Pilot, Military Aviation Veteran
David Morales is a decorated aviation leader with over 17,500 flight hours and four decades of experience spanning military and commercial operations, safety leadership, and airlift strategy. He currently serves as a Boeing 787 Captain at United Airlines and previously flew as a Line Check Airman on the B-737, and First Officer on the B-777, A320, and more.
In the U.S. Air National Guard, he commanded missions aboard the C-5A, C-130E, C-21A, and others, serving as Instructor Pilot, Chief of Safety, and Crisis Action Team Chief at the Pentagon’s National Military Command Center.
He is type-rated on the B-787, B-777, B-737, Learjet, and G-100/Astra SPX, and also qualified as a helicopter Medevac pilot. He holds a Bachelor of Health Science in Hospital Administration and an Associate in Respiratory Therapy.
As Patron and Advisor to SAS, Captain Morales supports policy alignment and strategic guidance—bringing unmatched insight into safety, leadership, and airlift readiness that help shape SAS’s vision across West Africa.

Charles Melomey
Board Member
Senior Technical Specialist — Aviation Maintenance & Safety Systems
Charles Yao Melomey is a licensed aircraft maintenance engineer and aviation safety specialist with over two decades of experience in engineering, fleet oversight, and regulatory compliance. He holds multiple type ratings, including ATR42/72 and Embraer 135/145/170/190 series, and is qualified under both FAA and CAA regulatory frameworks.
His previous roles include Director of Maintenance at Fly540 Ghana, Quality Assurance Manager at Africa World Airlines, and Fleet Manager for Embraer aircraft at Air Peace Nigeria. Charles has led technical inspections across the U.S., UK, France, South Africa, and Denmark, and supported aircraft acquisitions and audits for commercial and charter operations.
He is certified in IOSA auditing, Safety Management Systems (SMS), Human Factors, and Quality Management Systems, with extensive training through IATA and other global institutions.
As Technical Advisor at SAS, Charles supports the development of safety infrastructure, quality protocols, and operational readiness—ensuring maintenance systems align with SAS’s vision for efficient, scalable General Aviation solutions.
