SAS Leader Inspires Peki SHS Students – On Discipline, Opportunity and a Career Path in Aviation

PEKI, Volta Region — As part of its community outreach and education focus, Strategic Aviation Services (SAS) Founder and Executive Director, Asiwome Dzakuma, visited Peki Senior High School during a brief stop in Ghana, engaging students on discipline, growth, and opportunity.

Speaking as a native of Peki and an aviation professional, Dzakuma reflected on his journey through an era before the internet, describing the structured, often limited pathways students of his generation had to navigate both in school and beyond. He contrasted that experience with today’s digitally connected world, where access to information and global opportunities has significantly expanded.

The mostly female students were both awed and excited to have a pilot stand before them and share his experience — from a dreamer just like them to an airline pilot flying for one of the world’s largest carriers, United Airlines.

While acknowledging the advantages and limitations of both eras, he emphasized that today’s students are better positioned than ever to succeed if they apply discipline and focus. He pointed to aviation as a possible pathway, encouraging students to think broadly about their future and the impact they can make.

The visit, the first of its kind at Peki SHS, reflects SAS’ growing commitment to early-stage engagement with students and its long-term vision to expand aviation awareness. The organization is exploring future initiatives, including the introduction of aviation clubs in schools across Ghana to promote aviation as a career path.
